‘Walk and Talk’ series

Episode 1: ‘Be present in the ordinary to experience the extraordinary.’

Welcome to a new series I would like to introduce, called: ‘Walk and Talk’. In these series I would love to talk about a quote or other inspirational experience message. Today I’d like to share:

‘Be present in the ordinary to experience the extraordinary.’

Last weekend I’ve done a inspirational retreat in the beautiful Mittagong, where I had many new insights. One of the big themes of the retreat was that we experience an enormous amount of distractions in our everyday life, such as Social Media, TV, our phones etc., and all of these will make us fall into a daily grind. It holds us back from living in the present moment, noticing the beautiful things in life and being grateful for those.

For me, gratitude practise and reflecting at the end of the day make me a lot more present and I notice things that I have looked over during a hectic day.

Another quote I really valued was:

‘Without sacred time we are robbed of the possibility of peace.’

This isn’t necessary a religious quote, but applies to anyone. Take time to be still, so that you have time to reflect and be present in the moment.

Take this wisdom with you this week. Look around you and count your blessings. All of this will make an immense difference in your life.

Until next everyone goodbye…..and good night

Episode 2: ‘The world is full of nice people. If you can’t find one, be one.’

Good morning everyone, Welcome to a new edition of ‘Walk and Talk’: episode 2.

First of all, a quick thank you for the positive feedback on last week’s episode. I really appreciate it.

Quote of the week:

The world is full of nice people. If you can’t find one, be one.’ – Nishan Panwar

It is a beautiful quote. In this day and age, we often have to deal with negativity It is good to be grateful for all the good things that are going on in your life and start putting extra effort into being kind. This allows you to be a more positive person and be less affected by the negativity that might surround you. Let me illustrate this with a story.

Last week I was teaching a Sports Medicine course when we saw a drunk driver crashing his car into a pole. I was impressed by the way the UTS-students handled the situation by helping out everyone who was involved in the accident. It would have been easy to stop helping as soon as the police and the fire truck arrived, however helping them to take full control of the whole situation was the right thing to do. Taking that extra effort to help others not only in an event like this, but in any situation, is the right thing to do. These efforts will make a big difference, not just for yourself, but also to help remind others that the world is full of wonderful people. Change always starts with yourself, you will notice a lot more positivity around you.

I hope this story resonates well with you. I would to hear your thoughts. If you enjoyed this insight and got motivation out of it, feel free to like and/or share this video.

Until next everyone goodbye…..and good night

Episode 3: ‘Life is very interesting.. In the end some of your greatest pains will become your greatest strengths.’

Good morning everyone, Welcome back to episode 3 of ‘Walk and Talk’. It’s a pleasure that you tune in again. Thank you so much for the feedback and interaction on last week’s episode, I appreciate the engagement. If you like the content, please feel free to like and share the video, this helps me out so much.

Quote of the week:

‘Life is very interesting.. In the end some of your greatest pains will become your greatest strengths.’ – Drew Barrymore

I was reading this quote today and was thinking that this is a beautiful quote to start the week. Saturday was the world Physiotherapy Day., and that is obviously a day very close to my heart. It makes me feel very lucky that I get to do what I do. Also, It reminds me of my journey of becoming a Physiotherapist. I missed out on getting into Physio-school 3 times! And at each stage, I felt like throwing the towel in. But every time it gave me more resilience and helped me realise and focus on what I really wanted. At the 4th attempt I finally got in. This experience was a large source of inspiration for me during my studies, but I still use it as inspiration everyday to make every post a winner. I was so close to not being here at all and that thought always makes me appreciate my accomplishments more and more.

So remember, your greatest pains in life will become your strengths, even though that does not feel like that at the time.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on this and leave it in the comments below. Feel free to share the video. I really appreciate it.

Until next everyone goodbye…..and good night

Episode 4: ‘I don’t care how rocky it is, just bring in the damn boat.’ – Kobe Bryant

Good morning everyone,

Here for a new episode of ‘Walk and Talk’. My name is Yves and thanks again for tuning in. It has been a pleasure reading everyone’s comments and feedback on these series and I really appreciate you watching and engaging the content.

Today’s quote comes from one of the greatest athletes of all time: Kobe Bryant. I was recently listening to a podcast: ‘School of Greatness’- Lewis Howes, recommended to me by my friend Neil. The podcast contained a beautiful quote:

‘I don’t care how rocky it is, just bring in the damn boat.’ – Kobe Bryant

I really love the meaning behind that quote. He expects the most out of everyone when trying to achieve something great. This often led to him lacking empathy for his teammates, he was so focussed on a good outcome. In the podcast he showed some ways and means to get the best out of his teammates, which I thought was extraordinary.

But back to the quote, I think too often in life we just complain. We don’t focus on the outcome nor what we are trying the achieve and we find excuses, complain. This way we lose focus and do not reach our goals. I think the reason why Kobe became so great, was sticking by this quote; he kept the bigger picture in mind, didn’t complain, worked hard and achieved great things.

So, I hope that this is a little bit of insight on your Monday morning.

Until next everyone goodbye…..and good night

Episode 5: ‘We didn’t realise we were making memories, we just knew we were just having fun.’ – Winnie the Pooh

Good morning everyone, Welcome back to another edition of ‘Walk and Talk’ coming to you from a sunny South Bank in Brisbane. I was lucky enough to be here for the wedding of my great friend Chia and his partner Louise. As a result I got to spend time with 20 if my best mates, we had an absolute ball seeing many of the sights. And from that wedding I got a quote inspired by the best man:

Quote of the week:

‘We didn’t realise we were making memories, we just knew we were just having fun.’

It is short and sweet, just beautiful. A lot of my friends tease me for the fact that I get to go to a lot of weddings, especially during cricket season. But at the end of the day, it is just wonderful to get to spend so much time with your mates and be able to be present in those moments and enjoying it. And as you know, the takeaways in this series are being present in the moment and having fun. We didn’t realise we were making memories, we just knew we were just having fun. And no doubt we have gotten some good memories and stories from this weekend that will be talked about for years to come.

I hope this is a little bit of inspiration to start your week.

Until next everyone goodbye…..and good night

Episode 6: ‘Respect the process.’

Good morning everyone and welcome to another new edition of the ‘Walk and Talk’ series. My name is Yves and it’s a pleasure for me to join you today. Today’s ‘Walk and Talk’ is inspired from a time that I was working at Netball NSW and it’s a simple quote:

‘Respect the process.’

I’ll tell the background of this quote. Our girls just made the semi-finals and our coach brought in ex-Australian netballer Liz Ellis and she gave a great pre-game speech and it was really inspiring. Essentially what she talked about was that at the end of the day, if you just respect the process and your role in the team, don’t worry about the outcome; it will take care of itself. Our girls won that game and eventually won the flag.

Just a short and sweet one; respect the process and the outcome will happen.

Until next everyone goodbye…..and good night

Episode 7: “Take Massive Imperfect Action”

Happy Monday everyone and welcome to another episode of the ‘Walk and Talk’ series! I’ve recently just returned from a weekend of personal and business development with my colleagues and it inspired me to share this quote with you today:

“Take Massive Imperfect Action”

Speaking from personal experience, I know we always want to complete tasks to the best of our ability. Due to this, we often are hesitant to take action and therefore do not achieve success. On this Monday morning, I challenge you to take on these tasks, whether they be large or small tasks, and learn from your successes or failures. Learning from your mistakes is one of the most essential formulas for success; however, you will only be able to learn from your mistakes if you take on these tasks, regardless of perfection.

Wishing you guys all the best, until next time!

Episode 8: “Fail Often, Fail Forward”

Welcome to another episode of “Walk and Talk” series, it’s a pleasure to have your company again this Monday! I read a quote that Will Smith said recently and I would like to share it with you:

“Fail Often, Fail Forward”

On the journey of life, individuals often forget that failure is part of the recipe to success. Specifically so in social media, where many stories and posts are about success itself, rather than the journey it took to get there. In regards to my career, I have failed more times than I can count, but it has only brought me to where I am today. However, an important aspect of failure is learning from your mistakes and when you fail, you must learn to persist forward. Take for an example, Airbnb, a flourishing company that is worth billions; they almost went bankrupt various times before becoming successful. This is one of many examples of failure leading to success. I challenge you guys to look at failure as an opportunity, rather than a fear. Take on failure, let it challenge you, let it try and stop you, but then overcome it.

Hope you guys enjoyed this week’s “Walk and Talk”, see you next Monday!

Episode 9: “Get comfortable with being uncomfortable”

Good morning everyone and welcome to another episode of “Walk and Talk”! Thank you as always for your company, it is most appreciated. Today’s quote is so simple, but so true:

“Get comfortable with being uncomfortable”

Growth comes from outside our comfort zone and with growth we can achieve great things. I just want to draw attention to one of my good mates, Nathan Smith, who epitomizes this quote. Recently, he has been really challenging himself to get out of his comfort zone. Last week, he shared with me that he dislikes networking but he decided to challenge himself and attend an event. Nathan even held a snake last week, and he hates snakes. Although these tasks are simple, it helps Nathan get out of his comfort zone and not only helps him in the business world, but in life as well. So I challenge you this week to at least do one thing to get out of your comfort zone, no matter how big or small. I promise you, it will be worth it!

I love hearing from you guys and would love to hear all your stories. Until next week!

“Excelsior” – Stan lee

Good morning everyone , and welcome back to “walk and talk “, Yves here with you and thanks again for your company . Today is a quote coming from the late and great Stan Lee and just wanted to talk about his sign off word : “Excelsior”.  Which mean onwards and upwards or just striving for greatness , different interpretation of what he says . What a inspiration Stan lee has been in my life. I’m a big Marvel fan .  The amazing spiderman of course . There are story where my mom said that when I was a kid and the music of spiderman would come on I used to be so excited even when I was very young . But that what superheroes are here to do , to inspire us to grow and to strive for greatness. I want to inspire you : whatever life throws at you be inspired by your superheroes to go all and up and strive for greatness . Just a simple one to reset it . I hope you enjoyed it and see you next time. Thanks you and goodnight.

“with great power comes great responsibility” – Stand Lee

Good morning guys and welcome to a other edition of Walk and talk , today quote is a other one from the one and only Stan lee “ with great power comes great responsibility ” and today I want to talk about in terms of health care point of view. We are so privilege and lucky in the health care to have a lot of knowledge than can hopefully inspire clients to achieve great results. But a lot of the time I hear stories about health care professionals sometimes particularly surgeons , (not to have a go ) , but use these information to scare theirs clients to have unnecessary procedures or unnecessary protocols in places. So what I can tell , aiming to all the young health professionals out there , to embrace the knowledge you have but use it to inspire your clients to do good, educated to let them know where they are going and know that they will achieve great outcomes if they stick to theirs plans but don’t use it to scare and make them do things they don’t need to do. So yeah little motivation for your Monday and particularly for the young health care professionals. I hope this resonate with you guys and until next time: goodbye and goodnight.

Episode 13 : “Let’s just give thanks”

This week quote is a simple but a good one: “let’s just give thanks”. As many as you know, me and my family has recently been through a difficult situation loosing our childhood dog and during that period I have been very reflective on how lucky I am to have such wonderful great friends and family. I think so often in life it is so easy to focus on the negative and so easy to be wind up in negativity and anger, but giving thanks and being grateful for all the wonderful blessing we have, I think is so important and help to help ground us reach our potential. So what I challenge you to do this week guys is just to reflect, potentially as a nightly ritual, and just give thanks for something you are grateful in your life. It is amazing how that change and shift in energy will bring a really great positive mind set and help you get through a difficult situation.

Episode 14 : “if you want to feel happy, do something for yourself, but if you want to feel fulfilled, do something for others ” – Simon Sinek

Welcome back to another episode of walk and talk. Today quote comes from Simon Sinek and goes something along the line of “if you want to feel happy do something for yourself, but if you want to feel fulfilled do something for others”. Not much else is needed to be said about this quote, it is really beautiful. When you only thinking about yourself, you never really get that sense of fulfilment. So, on this Monday, what I challenge you to do especially during the Christmas period is to do something for other and reflect upon it and on yourself. It is a beautiful way to spread the Christmas spirit and to really help you develop a sense of purpose and a meaning in life. So do that over the Christmas period and let me know how it goes.

Episode 15 : “I never dreamed for success, I simply worked for it”

Good morning everyone and welcome back to another edition of walk and talk . Today quote come from the famous Estee lauder and she said : “I never dreamed for success, I simply worked for it”. I think this is a beautiful quote. Too often we want to achieve great things, we want to do great things but we are not willing to put in the effort and work for it. And no doubt in my mind the most successful people don’t make excuses, don’t procrastinate they just put in the work and get stuff done. What I challenge you to do this week guys is too simply stop procrastinating and put forward one cool initiative to try and achieve your goals. Don’t dream about it, work for it .

Episode 16 :“ Life is not waiting for the storm to pass but rather to learn how to dance in the rain.”

Good morning everyone and welcome back to Walk and talk. Today quote : “life is not waiting for the storm to pass but rather to learn how to dance in the rain.” I just think it is just a beautiful sentiment. Life can get tough and life can get challenging. We can only get through tough time with the support of friends and family and sometimes simply burying our head in the sand and not dealing with the situation can’t be healthy for us at all . So what I challenge you this week guys, is to learn to dance in the rain and how can we do that ? : it is really by surrounding ourselves with supportive network , surrounding ourselves with our wonderful friends and family and just learn to deal with things as they come. I hope that provided some inspiration for your Monday .

Episode 17 :”The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek”

Good morning everyone, today quote : “The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek”. Guys to achieve great things sometimes you got to take yourself out of your  comfort zone and into a state of fear and often times that the queue to know that we are seeking something we want to achieve. I think it is a perfect quote to start of the new year because it is a great opportunity to challenge ourselves to get out there and really try to achieves things you want to. But to do so you must get out of your comfort zone and get into that cave that you fear to enter. So what I challenge yourself to do try to seek out fear and try to enter that cave.

Episode 18 : “ The most difficult is the decision to act the rest is merely tenacity” – Amelia Earhart.

This week quote : “the most difficult is the decision to act the rest is merely tenacity”  A lovely quote from Amelia Earhart. To me what this suggest is that sometimes the most difficult is actually to take action to what we want to do and once we do that things just seems to fall into place . that could be as simple as taking a new hobby, starting a new business venture or simply just spending times with your mates. Make the decision to act and things will fall into place, it’s just merely tenacity. So all I challenge to you to do on this lovely week in January, is just to make the decision to take action, plan it in the diary put it forward and you’ll be surprise how the rest will come together and make sense .
